HYCAT Handbook: Athlete Code of Conduct
As a member of the UC Aquatic Team "Competitive Team Program," you are expected to live up
to a "higher" standard of conduct than a non-member of the HYCAT "Competitive Team Program."
Representing the UC Aquatic Team Swimming Program is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Actions taken by a UC Aquatic Team swimmer, parent or coach reflect upon their fellow
swimmers, parents and coaches and the entire UC Aquatic Team Program.
The failure of any member of the HYCAT Program to live up to these "higher" standards of
conduct can result in that person being dismissed and/or suspended from the Swimming Program
subject to the "final" approval of the HYCAT Board of Direc-tors.
Actions which may be cause for suspension and/or dismissal, but not limited to, would
include excessive unexcused absence from practices; practice and/or facility misconduct or
abuse; the use and/or abuse of non-prescription drugs; smok-ing; drinking of alcoholic
beverages; profanity; dishonesty; criminal charges; and any other actions which may tend to
discredit the UC Aquatic Team Swimming Program.
An appeal to the HYCAT Board of Directors for "final action" is the person's responsibility.
The appeal must be written and addressed to: HYCAT President; HYCAT Board of Directors; 2300
MacCorkle Ave, SE: Charleston, WV 25304. A meeting must take place within 15 days upon
receipt of the written appeal.
As a member of one of the HYCAT "Competitive Programs" during the 2000-2001 Swimming Season
{Comp 1/2/3 Teams}, I have read and understand the HYCAT "Athlete Code of Conduct" as
outlined above and on the reverse side of this paper. I agree to adhere to this "Code of
Conduct" to the best my ability while a member of the HYCAT Program.
