HYCAT Handbook: Advancement Criteria
2000-2001 HYCAT SWIMMING PROGRAM / ADVANCEMENT CRITERIA {REV 08/15/2000}
The UC Aquatic Team Coaching Staff will continually "evaluate" the swimmers during
their participation with the HYCAT Swimming Program. When a swimmer demonstrates the
capability of performing at the next higher level within the HYCAT Swimming Program, the
swimmer's parents will be notified with a written notice from their child that will be
distributed at swim practice AND a telephone call from the HYCAT Coaching Staff. The HYCAT
Coaching Staff will also discuss/talk to the swimmer at practice about their "promotion."
If a swimmer wishes to be considered for promotion/advancement to another HYCAT Swimming
Program/Team, the swimmer MUST be able to demonstrate/perform the skills and/or drills
listed below to the satisfaction of the HYCAT Coaching Staff. {NOTE: the skills/drills
listed below are intended as a "GUIDELINE" for the HYCAT Coaching Staff to determine if a
swimmer has the skills necessary to "move-up" to next level within the HYCAT Swimming
Program}. The discretion of the HYCAT Director/Head Coach; HYCAT Head Age Group Coach and/or
Head Developmental Age Group Coach will prevail in all promotion/advancement decisions.
