The Analytic Papers

by Robert L. Kocher

titles

Presented at this site is a series of analyses, many of which were articles previously published elsewhere, dealing with American sociopolitical phenomena of recent decades as well as certain economic issues. The approach here is decidedly psychoanalytic in a way that should be explained.

Freud, like Isaac Newton, will go down in history as one of the most influential minds of all time. But like Newton, Freud was the important beginning from which much else sprang. Newton is not all of physics. Newton knew nothing about electrons, protons, neutrons, gamma radiation, Ohm's Law, or many other aspects of present day physics. In the same way, Freud is not all of psychoanalysis. He was the beginning. There are diehard uncreative orthodox Freudians, as well as amateurs, who cookbook psychoanalytic interpretation from Freud's writings. Competent psychoanalysis is as far from that as modern quantum and particle physics is from Newton.

The greatest psychologist of the 20th century was probably Neal Miller. In John Dollard and Neal Miller's Personality and Psychotherapy he began to integrate Freud and behaviorism into a comprehensive system of personality analysis as well as an implicit method of treatment when the system was applied. In my own mind I have taken this task to completion. It is not the purpose here to present and train people in the complete theoretics. That would require far too much time and would require a substantial background on the part of readers.

The series of analyses presented here is not so much as an explanation of integrated psychoanalysis and Miller-derived behaviorism, as much an application and interpretation according to that integration related to current and recent events. What is presented is a system of political, social, and economic analysis suitable for courses at the graduate or postdoctoral level. Integrated psychoanalytic and behavioral interpretation is employed within a philosophical framework incorporating logical positivism. In that sense the material is somewhat psychotherapeutic for some readers in the way of providing long awaited relief from prevailing distorted interpretation within the social atmosphere.

Imprisonment of the mind often begins with faulty premises as well as emotional response conditioned to those premises. One of the tasks here is to free people from those premises.

In the past, 40 percent of my readers have been medical doctors, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, and educators. The material here is not easy reading.

The purpose here is several fold. To some small extent it may advance the state of the art. More importantly, the material is meant to present a realistic explanation of recent events. For many readers this realistic explanation has been decidedly psychotherapeutic, which was an intent.

Many people have been driven nearly to distraction by the events of recent decades, and by the failure to obtain any support for their valid perceptions in the progressively countercultural atmosphere existent since the early to mid 1960s. Some of them desperately seize upon Gramsci and/or other leftist theoreticians to explain recent events and are frightened to let loose of various people, organizations, and theories lest they lose any sense of explanation. Some of this seizing approaches the paranoid in its desperation. But, there is no one theorist or small group of theorists dominant enough to explain what has happened. Neither is there a single political group in control of events. What has occurred, and is occurring is a very complex evolutionary process resulting in an informal mutually supporting confederation of diverse motivations and interests. The consequent is a pool of countercultural liberalism. Part of the purpose of this series is to support the validity of repressed perceptions and relieve sense of alienation to those who make them.

The explanation here will be as comprehensive as is possible within the limitations of human time and effort. As of this moment the amount of material here approximates 1,200 single spaced typewritten pages.

The material is presented partially in the order it was written, and new installments will be added. Some of the earlier written analyses have been revised to slight degree. There will be material here not available on other sites as it conflicted with the basic ideology of those sites.

In the future some papers on physics will also be placed here as it is one of the author's principle interests.

People interested in concepts of marine metal deterioration, resin chemistry, hydraulic engineering, diesel engines, refrigeration theory, materials science, wood deterioration, and similar areas may inquire about availability of reprints from the author's engineering series in National Fisherman (207-842-5400) from 1979-1986.

TOPICS AND ARTICLES PRESENTED HERE

The American Mind In Denial
Robert L. Kocher

This was written in the height of the Clinton Turbulence. It was originally entitled, "Thinking as an Inmate of Auschwitz." It may be the most widely read analysis ever published on the internet. It was copied and spread on hundreds of sites. On one site alone it received 11,000 readings a day. Its publication initiated a race and contest between the analysis and the Clintons. The Clintons, with the aid of James Carville and the liberal media had succeeded in centering the discussion on manifestly sensitive but basically non-critical areas. Thus, the Clintons were allowed to escape serious questions while media public discussion centered on trivialities about whether everybody lies about sex, and eventually Hillary's humorous dismissal of the issue by saying, "He's a hard dog to keep on the porch." If the analysis presented here were published in any major magazine or newspaper, the Clintons would have been forced out of the White House. Its length would mean it would require nearly an entire issue of a magazine to publish, which was prohibitive. Someone in the White House or on the White House staff realized the danger and had it blocked off the federal internet service provider.

The analysis was written before Juanita Broddrick and several other women brought assertions of rape against Bill Clinton. The description of the events independently by the women, along with the totality of long term patterns in Bill Clinton's personality indicate the assertions to be true. Anyone of capacity who has completed a year of graduate study or a year of psychiatric residency would have caught the pattern. The strength of the Clinton media machine and the critically placed support in a press corps that voted in the order of 87-89 % for the Clintons, was such that the assertions and the women bringing those assertions were dismissed. Even the National Organization of Women, which repeatedly made the statement as a matter of policy that any accusation of rape by any woman should be assumed true, refused to address the issue when it was raised by a series of women.

The Clintons, with the aid of James Carville, redefined the frame of reference away from far more serious issues such as dangerous levels of megalomaniacal psychopathic deviance and other serious mental disorder into one of a life style that should not be subjected to hypocritical or judgmental provincialism.

Bill and Hillary Clinton as Borderline Psychotics
by Robert L. Kocher

In this installment the issue of the borderline psychotic, or the borderline personality, is discussed. The concept of psychosis or borderline psychosis has been changed and eroded over the years to accommodate social trends. What would once have been diagnosed as severe psychiatric disorder has been moved into being blandly described as a statement of social liberation, of political correctness, or as social pluralism. An older view held here and throughout the series is the difference between a psychopath and a psychotic. The person who ruthlessly lies to and manipulates other people without conscience should be considered a psychopath, now relabeled a sociopathic personality in recent terminology. When it comes to the point where people begin to believe their lies we then begin to enter the world of delusional psychosis.

America As A Battered Woman
by Robert L. Kocher

A Psychological Axis: Are We Predetermined?
Part 1
by Robert L. Kocher

The critical issue in most sociological theory relating to responsibility, government, and social programs is predetermination. The American constitution, our system of law, and even our past system of economics were built on the implicit assumption that individual man was responsible for his own behavior and choices--and is responsible for the accepting the consequences of his behavior and choices. Is this unjust?

The Viet Nam War Subseries

The Viet Nam war continues to be as important a factor in American political life today as it was in the '60s for several reasons. During the 1960s many of the young were unequivocally hostile to entering military service. During the Viet Nam war build-up the exponentially increasing drafting of young men resulted in an enormous waiting formless motivation for rebellion within a generation. If the war could be declared as being unjustified, then refusal to enter the military could also be provided with a morally justified form. Adopting extreme politically left positions in which communism/socialism were portrayed as socially liberating and leftist invasions of South Viet Nam were justified and welcome while American intervention was an immoral act against people's liberation, achieved the desired goal. The young of the time found considerable support in this view from a leftist movement that had been building for decades and had been awaiting fertile opportunity to use for their advantage.

On the manifest level the war alienated a generation that has since ascended into political and institutional power--many of whom are still committed to a warped agenda which was the real war. The alienation has been passed down to successive generations. An array of myths, mistruths, and faulty logic were formulated and remain uncontested destructive employed operating principles to this day. The agenda and interpretations continue to dominate written and televised history. This part of the series examines the realities of the period.

The greatest problem with the prosecution of the Viet Nam war was that prosecution of the war was systematically subverted and that the success of the subversion continues to be attributed to an impossibility of winning the war rather than the subversion. The secondary step in the leftist arguments generated by the period argument has become, "No more Viet Nams" instead of the realistically and accurately pertinent "No more subversion."

The predominant view of those certified as, and believing themselves to be, intellectuals, was that free enterprise was a crass anachronism that would, and should, be replaced by the socialist ideal. Accordingly, the United States should be eased into decline in favor of socialism/communism.

Also, the concept that an idea, specifically their ideas and their minds, were so powerful as to be able to defeat entire armies appealed to the childish vanity and desire for importance within that intellectual subcultural axis. This motif became the primary issue to be fulfilled in itself regardless of the quality of the idea, or even if such an idea scarcely really existed. In constructing a brain trust that would dominate the next eight years of the Viet Nam war, that mentality is what Jack Kennedy brought into critical areas of government. The "brightest and the best" that Kennedy brought in were hailed as a triumphant celebration that the days of the previously neglected and ridiculed intellectuals had finally arrived. But in bringing the so-called intellectuals in, Kennedy also brought in an alienation from America and a number of fundamentally small personalities with sadistic and passive-aggressive components. Moreover, these personalities acquired too much power over an almost irresistibly publicly attractive but fundamentally weak playboy president.

What was to occur was not the victory of an idea widely known and accepted by a large proportion of people, but a system of deceptive subversion imposed by a small critically placed group of people.

The American military was not sent to Viet Nam to win. It was sent there to be mauled, thus fulfilling a romanticized view of the futility of resisting the inexorable march of Communism/socialism.

The fighting was furious, but the tactics and strategy imposed from the top by people such as Robert McNamara were defeating. In a type of twisted theater presented to the public, the disastrous consequences were then falsely attributed to being the strength of commitment of an idealistic enemy as well as the unstoppability of a moral idea while the fact was, a critically positioned small group of people engineered the war in such a way so that much of the enemy was never placed in serious direct threat. Under those conditions, loss becomes prolonged and inevitable.

The Mel Gibson film "We Were Soldiers," which I recommend for study, is a true story and is instructive. In it, Colonel Moore protests an insane order of battle in which his forces would be divided and delivered piecemeal to be chewed up by a vastly outnumbering enemy force. It was, in fact, little more than a suicide mission that American men only barely survived through Moore's brilliant leadership. After surviving, the men were extracted from the area, the area was given back to the enemy, and the operation was repeated at later times. No competent or well-meaning Secretary of Defense would allow, let alone endorse such actions. What was occurring was a systematic criminal undermining of the American military effort.

Confused and demoralized American men were being attacked by two enemies, the communist insurgency in Viet Nam, and the criminal subversion in America pouring down from the top. Within this madness, they could finally only fight for themselves and to survive. Most of the survivors don't fully understand it to this day. One of the reasons they are having difficulty in psychologically healing from the war is because they continue to be pushed into denial of the reality of their having been betrayed.

The undermining interpretations and language used to deceive and manipulate the American people ushered in a pathological style of thought which has became acceptable.

By the end of 1968 the nation had been so worn down in spirit by military losses, by the subversive undermining within the American government, and by protest movements which had become so powerful and uncontested, that rational remedy was precluded by turmoil and open subversion on the home front. It was that hopeless situation that was handed to President Richard Nixon.

The truth has gone unrepresented in the pool of liberal controlled and mediocre public analysis and consciousness. Nearly 60,000 American men died in Viet Nam. Hundreds of thousands more were injured or permanently maimed. The predominate reason for this cost was not because of the inherent nature of war, or because of the inherent nature of this particular war, but because of incompetence and a type of criminal subversion at the top levels of American government and elsewhere. Failure in Viet Nam produced a perverse satisfaction, sometimes in the form of fulfillment of ideological prophecy, and sometimes in other forms. If the war had been won, it would have have been an affront to standards of oppositional obstructionistic and somewhat sadistic intellectuality which had developed and which defined its power and importance by success of its capacity to inflict insult and destruction with cleverness. The final fall of South Viet Nam was greeted with as much barely concealed celebration by a wide spectrum of elements in the United States, as it was by the North..

Politics in America
Part 9: Evolution of the Deteriorated Relationship
Between Men and Women
by Robert L. Kocher

No factor has had a more profound and complex effect upon the American political system, indeed all American institutions, than what is called the sexual revolution. Sexual matters have displaced former political issues to considerable extent. At the 1972 Democratic Party Convention a clearly exasperated labor leader George Meany bitterly complained that the Democrats were concerned about whether boys should marry boys and girls should marry girls while the economy of the country went down the drain. That's part of it. Real wealth in life is family and friends. America became one of the poorest nations on earth.

A secondary consequence of the deterioration, which has become diffused throughout the Euroanglo world, is that the white race is not reproducing itself and will disappear from the face of the earth over coming decades. It has become highly apparent and a matter of concern since this material was originally written. The pervasive pattern of loss of serious long term interest, or even toleration, of genuine close relationships between the sexes, coupled with abortion, is resulting in the loss or destruction of a race.

This part of the series was written before Hillary Clinton was elected senator. However, it is as pertinent today as it was then as it seems apparent she is moving to obtain the presidency and her presidential campaign is following the same path as her senatorial campaign. Namely: get your negatives out of the way early. Declare them to be old business not to be discussed. Isolate yourself from serious questions. Appear primarily in virtual-reality type controlled staged activities. And wear people down into a state of immobilized exasperation with media support.
