We have about 15 varieties of Hosta for sale this year with that many more scattered about the gardens. Just last year I discovered the beauty of some of my hosta. I had been digging and dividing my plants every few years to sell. But, I have some mystery hosta and a group of f. aureo-marginata that I had left alone for probably 5 years - and last year they came into their own. The coloration and leaf texture was superb. What's the point? Leave your hostas be - they get better with age! Some of my favorites: August Moon for a gold that holds; Royal Standard for its intense white flowers; Golden Tierra is a nice little edger; don't have a favorite blue yet though Seiboldiana Elegans is a classic blue and is impressive when given room to show itself.
