C.A. Deitz, Sweetheart of the Cherry River
Navy in 1976.

Keith Jarvis, former Richwood mayor, and daughter
Susan. Susan was Sweetheart of the Cherry
River Navy in 1972.

This picture comes to us courtesy of John Rader,
RHS class of 1957. That's John on the right along
with Pete Spencer. Although the event is unknown,
they are likely in jail for charitable reasons.
|

Some of you will remember Jim Martin. He went to
grade school in Richwood through the sixth grade
at Milltown, and then his family left town for
parts unknown.
|
|

(L-R) Kent Mullens, Danny Boone and Gale Wasselchalk
clown for the camera when they were in the sixth grade
at Milltown Grade School. Sadly, Gale was killed in 1953
in a bicycle-car accident.

According to a couple of sources, this is Norma
Jean White (Shelton). However, it could be her
sister, Susie, too. If memory serves, Norma Jean
and Susie were majorettes in their years.

Recently discovered photographic evidence confirms
that it really was fun being in the Drum and Bugle Corps.
The picture was likely taken during a trip to the Apple
Blossom Festival in Winchester, Va. In the aisle, (top)
is Delos "Pete" Hartless and Bill Gambill. Seated on the
right are Don Kight (front) and (is that Duane Landacre)
behind him.

The affable Dan Callaghan.

Susie Hicks (now Phillips). Her cheeks are decorated for the
occasion of the day back about 1953.

|

Thanks to Gail Kerns, this chap
standing, as we did in the 1950s, on the corner of
Main St. and Oakford Ave., is Ellis Sparks. He's
now a sign painter in Richwood, I'm told. That's
John White, owner of The Jewel Box jewelry store,
on the right, and Dan Seacrist on the left.
|

Judy Blake and Carol Chapman.

|

Fred Holt (l) and Ralph "Two-Gun" Johnson, two of our teachers at
Richwood High School.
|

Richwood High School Principal Edgell "Boss" Dean.
What a wonderful man and great teacher he was.
Beside him is Jim Marsh, Class of 1958 (earlier identified
here incorrectly as Clint Posey).

That's me in leaner days. The identity of the
young lady behind me remains a mystery. She
worked at the Newsstand.
|

Ed Buck. A model teacher, citizen and man for us all.
|
|

(L-R) Norma Shelton, Barbara Murphy and Shirley Westfall confer about
the meaning of the universe before heading off to class. Note the saddle oxfords,
a symbol of the Bobbie Sox generation, on the girl in the background.
|
|
|

The taller girl is Judy Gainer, an RHS majorette for several years. That may be her sister Frances with
her. The identity of the young man remains a mystery. The fence is in front of the Presbyterian
Church on East Main Street.
