Well folks here he is Champion Autumn’s Tugger Underfoot. Yep there is a story, as
there always is. Arlene came to pick up a showable puppy from us, of course when
she saw our pick puppy from that litter she just had to have him. His name was going
to be Tugger....then back at home he remained constantly “under
foot”, thus the extended version Tugger Underfoot.
At a German Shepherd Dog show in PA, Arlene was told by a very prominent hander
that Tugger would never finish and he was a waste of her time and effort. Of course
he then proceeded to attempt to sell Arlene one of his “finishable show dogs”. Did
that discourage Arlene, “Heck No!”, thank goodness.
We all had faith in him and Lenny Brown (handler pictured above) finished him with no
difficulty at all. In fact on the day Tugger finished, as I recall, he won over that other
“prominent handler’s finishable show dog”. Needless to say Arlene never ever gloat-
ed one moment over that small detail.
In a message from Arlene she said her next project is Tugger’s CD. You know I won-
der if this “puppy” still gets underfoot. Thanks Arlene for your faith in Tugger. Let
this be a lesson to other hopeful Autumn Champion owners. If you come to us looking
for a showable puppy and we say it is showable you can believe us, regardless of
what some “prominent” or for that matter “not-so-prominent” handler or breeder
may say. |
